Teaware

Tea and the sharing of tea is celebrated by many cultures in very diverse and often ritualistic ways. Tea drinking habits can be found worldwide. After water, it is the most widely consumed drink in the world. In conjunction with Antipodean Encounters, Western Australian ceramicists celebrated tea ware and food as a central point of cultural dialogue, presenting their vessels alongside loaned collections of Taiwanese tea ceremony sets.

Coordinated by Jen Kerr. Participating artists: Claire Ng, Melissa Statham, Bernard Kerr, Jenny Kerr, Lee Woodcock, Dee Parker, Emma Vinkovic, Alison Brown, Rie Yamauchi, Megan Evans, Amanda Harris, and Denise Brown.

Carol Natolotto performs the Taiwanese tea ceremony at Teaware @The Store. Tea culture is a conversation. It encourages one to slow down. It enhances the senses and focuses attention to appreciate the beauty in the process of tea drinking.

Celebrating the act of sharing food, Tableware presents a selection of handcrafted ceramics and textiles made for the dinner table complimented by a feast of native flora. Styled as a pop up shop; a banquet of platters, plates, bowls, beakers and napery showcase the work of makers from around the country.
